Life Outside the City: A Look into Blue Mountains Homes

Many people in Sydney enjoy taking a trip to the Blue Mountains. A quick weekend getaway to recharge and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Some folks may daydream of owning property in the Blue Mountains and some of you may have already started looking at homes in the area as well. If you’ve been looking into Blue Mountains homes, let us help you get started. Theo Poulos Real Estate is based in Katoomba but we can help you find your perfect mountain home in any of the surrounding suburbs in this area. Here’s the low down on Blue Mountains properties and all of the options you’ll have.

Smaller towns, slower pace

Katoomba is the “biggest” town surrounding the Blue Mountains National Park. The most recent census shows 8,000 residents, so coming from a metropolis like Sydney this will surely still feel like a small town to most. However, if you’re looking for Blue Mountains homes for sale in even smaller towns, you only need to drive a few minutes outside of Katoomba to find something even more secluded.

Lawson, for example, is 15 minutes east of Katoomba but has only 2,600 residents. If you’re looking for an even smaller town, you can head north of Katoomba and check out all of the Blue Mountains homes available in Mount Victoria, with only 1,000 residents there! No matter what size of town you’re looking for you’ll find your perfect match in one of these surrounding suburbs.

Access to Blue Mountains National Park

The biggest draw of Blue Mountains properties is their close proximity to Blue Mountains National Park. This nature preserve is one of NSW’s most popular destinations not only for Sydney residents but for tourists from around the world. Any of these towns will offer access to the park, and you’ll be able to enjoy great views no matter where you are. Most of these suburbs have their own main street district with shops and cafes, and depending on the size of the town, you’ll likely be able to walk there right from your house!  All of these suburbs sit directly on the Great Western Highway and the train line also connects them all in case you’d like to check out a neighbouring town or find some new restaurants close to home.

Blue Mountains Homes for Sale

Blue Mountains homes have a median price of 475K. This is under the average for NSW, but median prices for each suburb can vary quite a bit from this price. For example, the suburbs of Mount Riverview and Wentworth Falls have a median home price of 770K, while towns like Katoomba will be closer to the Blue Mountains homes average.
